Heroic Icons Blog

At first I just thought they were poorly drawn images but after reading the homework pages I have come to marvel at these historic icons. Not only did they show the history of the time ,but they gave a sense of hope to the people. Overall it was interesting. After studying the image one thing stuck out to me, the flag. The U.S. flag has always been a symbol for hope and always look so fitting next to a fighting soldier. And the fact that it is not in the traditional colors make me personally like the flag even more. Its not that Im not patriotic, but from an artist's perspective it just more striking. The next focal point I had with the black and white flag was the stars. I always loved stars and when I look at that flag I instantly think of Vangogh's Starry Night. And finally the last image that really captivated me in the Starry Night work was the village down below.

Narrowing down the houses and land in the Starry Night image I just uploaded one simple cottage and landscape image. Its so beautiful and peaceful. Im amazed that this is the final image I recieved from reading and looking at War Heros images. But I guess in a way if we had no wars and there was no real need to fight then perhaps towns and families could live in peaceful places like this. After all isnt that what we want in the end? Just peace and harmony.

WPA Project 3

A.) The relationship in the color pallet creates a nice balance and harmonizes with one another.
B.) The boy in the poster is more edgey and a simple sketch with shiney highlights. The photographed boy does not have the glossy look and is insted dull and is still more realistic.
C.) The poster image at first builds a sad setting. But then once you read the text this poster is actually very funny. I think the poster is asking to go to the eye doctor and get examined. I think the poster is convincing enough.

WPA Project 2

A.) The pallet for this poster uses 3 different colors. Each color is bold in their own way.
B.)In comparison to the photo the poster's female dancers are more curvy and dark. The photo is overall more realistic. The poster's characters all look outlined.
C.) The poster is very loud. With it's big bold font and colors its seems a little hectic for a theatre show. I am influenced to go see it.

WPA Project

A.) The Black and Yellow rectangles have more of a popping sensation next to the two tone grey rectangles.

B.) The artist broke down the drawing of a hippo into nothing more than a few simple round lines. He created the texture of the animal's skin by creating a two tone grey and shadows.

C.) The overall look of the poster gives off a heavy vibe. Although it is very interesting it does not really influence me to go visit the zoo in Philadelphia.
